Why we do not run this often

Yunnan is not our home ground

Our fleet, guides and emergency systems are built for Tibet, Sichuan and Xinjiang. This journey runs on long-standing local partners and our own lead — honestly, not as deep a bench as our home regions.

Sunrise depends on the weather

The cloud sea is not guaranteed. On a grey morning we shift the viewpoint and the timing, but we do not promise a photograph. That is written into the contract.

Low altitude, early mornings

Lijiang sits at 2,400 m and Yuanyang around 1,600 m — no altitude risk at all. The one physical demand is the 06:30 start on day seven.

Meals at CNY 80 per head

Sixteen main meals, and every speciality meal named in the itinerary is included — Hani feast, wild-mushroom hotpot, Bai sour-spicy fish. The figure is stated, not hidden.

Six of them

Yunnan is not one of your regions — why run it at all?

Because the content meets our bar: living craft, World Heritage villages, real regional food, and no shopping stops. We open it only when we can fill it and staff it with our own lead.

How many departures a year?

Very few — two or three, generally October to April, when the Yuanyang terraces are flooded and the light is best. Ask us for current dates.

Can I combine it with the Chengdu journey?

Yes, and we recommend it: ten days in Chengdu (from CNY 11,000) plus nine in Yunnan (from CNY 12,550), nineteen days total at CNY 23,550 per person, connecting flights already included. See Reading Chengdu.

Is the Yuanyang sunrise guaranteed?

No. It depends on the weather. We adjust the viewpoint and timing, but we do not promise a result — and we put that in the contract rather than in the sales pitch.

Is it suitable for older travellers?

Yes. Nothing above 2,400 m and no long walks. The only demand is the 06:30 start on day seven, which you can skip.

Can international travellers join, and how do I pay?

Yes — Yunnan needs no border permit, a valid visa is enough, and English-speaking leads are available. Settlement is in CNY by bank transfer against our invoice, Wise to our CNY account, or Alipay/WeChat Pay bound to an international card.
